Nevada's Basin and Range topography features isolated valleys filled with alluvial fan deposits, lake sediments, and volcanic debris between mountain ranges of igneous and metamorphic rock. Best drilling months: September through May; extreme summer heat (110°F+) in southern Nevada makes drilling dangerous and less efficient.
